Phase 3: Bottom-up assessment (Community-led assessment).
In phase three, by working with community groups, a community assessment of the rural localitie is made. Currently, phase 3 takes place in the town of Quebrada Alvarado, where we work with the following community groups:
- Children (schools)
- Retired or older people
- Women
- Producers
- Land owners
- Municipal -Officers
With each group different methods to generate the valuation of rural landscapes are used, depending on the characteristics of the group. For example, in the children’s group we have used ‘drawing paths’ and ‘photo stories’ (photos taken by the children themselves to which is added a story of what the photo means and why it was taken). In the groups of older adults ‘participatory apping’ and ‘emotional maps’ have been used (what they like and what they dislike, and what has changed in the environment).
